Tom Watson

British Open Golf Tom WatsonFive time Open winner Tom Watson returns to the scene of his victorious 1977 'duel in the sun with Jack Nicklaus' and to one of his most favoured courses. His duel with Nicklaus throughout the Tournament in 1977 it is one of the great Open memories. It is highly unlikely that Tom will challenge for the claret jug again this year but he will be out there trying his hardest. It is always a great sight for golf lovers to see great Champions and the Open golf championship 2009 will be no exception will be great to see him strutting his stuff around the Turnberry links course probably for the last time.

Tom won the Open in 1975,1977,1980,1982 and 1983 and was tied runner up in 1984. He also won three further Major golf tournaments, the US Masters twice and the US Open once. It was only the PGA Championship that eluded him from making a Grand Slam of golf, a tournament where he came runner up in 1978.
