Lee Trevino

Lee Trevino otherwise known as 'Supermex' was one of the great characters and winners of the British Open. He is one of the few who have successfully defended the title when famously winning in 1971 ahead of the enigmatic but charming Mr Lu and then again in 1972, when he got the better of Jack Nicklaus. 'Supermex' also won the US Open twice and the PGA Championship twice, totalling 6 Major Tournament crowns. His record at the Open is one of the most impressive, in addition to his two wins he was also runner up in 1980, third in 1970, 4th here on the Ailsa course in 1977 and 5th in 1983.
