Open Golf Contenders 2012 - Jason Day

The young Australian Jason Day has burst onto the scene over the past few months with a number of top performances in the Majors and he now comes into the British Open at Sandwich as one of the favourites. Day has made his name in 2011 with two consecutive second place finishes at the US Masters in April and then at the recent US Open at the Congressional Country Club. That has seen Day shoot into the top ten of the world rankings and many believe he is now the future of golf along with the US Open winner Rory McIlroy.

Day is known for being supremely confident and who can blame him with his recent record being so good, he won his first and so far only tournament on the PGA Tour last year at the Byron Nelson Championship. This season will be only Day's second appearance in a British Open which is a minus for his supporters but such is his confidence that it is unlikely to bother the 23 year-old.

There is no doubt that Jason Day has all the talent needed to have a big week at royal Ste Georges this season and there will be plenty of punters out there wanting to back him to be placed again for the third Major in-a-row. He seems to play his best golf under pressure at the big tournaments and with that in mind we would not want to put anyone off from backing Day as an each-way shot at this years British Open.
